Description

The Civic HealthTech Innovation Zone (CHI-Zone) is being established to accelerate the growth of the health and life science sector, upskill residents and create jobs for the Liverpool City Region. As Immersive Software Developer, you will design, develop and test digital and data-driven solutions to pressing problems posed by commissioners and providers or health and care services. The role requires a keen interest in Immersive Technologies, Applications Development and Software Engineering.
The University¿s Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) is working with partners to deliver the CHI-Zone. This funded post sits within the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC), part of the Institute for Digital Engineering and Autonomous Systems (IDEAS).
You will be a key member of the VEC team, working at the Digital Innovation Facility (DIF) on the University of Liverpool campus, but also work with staff at the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC) facility located on the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus as required. You will also work closely with university colleagues from the Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) and engage with a wide range of health and care service commissioners, providers and industry stakeholders.
This role involves the use of technical and programming skills around software engineering, immersive/games development and front-end development such as Unity, Unreal, C++, UI/UX, C#, JavaScript, React, Three.js. With a good understanding of applications development, immersive technologies, AR & VR and keen interests to grow and learn across key upcoming technical areas/trends such as AI, 3D scanning, AWS, Web3 or decentralised applications.
You should have good programming abilities, capable of diagnosing issues and resolving coding related problems. You will work to agreed performance standards, optimising processes and working practices, deliver within agreed response times, and ensure documentation and records relating to activities are effectively maintained. The role requires good interpersonal and communication skills, bringing energy, enthusiasm and a constant focus on excellence; supporting and motivating colleagues and clientele to enhance their knowledge, skills and practice.
This post will run from 1 July 2025 until 31 March 2029.

Amongst other key benefits, we operate a hybrid working policy and you will have 28 days holiday + University closure days (usually 6) + bank holidays (usually 8).
Although the university has a hybrid working system, the expectation is that the successful applicant appointed to this role will be expected to work more than 60% on campus.
