POSITION SUMMARY:

As a member of a larger multidisciplinary team, the IMPACT Co-Response Worker (ICW) operates under the general guidance of the IMPACT Program Manager. This role provides mobile addiction and mental health (AMH) co-response, intervention, support, and services in partnership with local police services. The ICW will be embedded within area police service locations and serve as a dedicated AMH resource. The ICW will assist with AMH-related calls for service when it is safe and appropriate to do so. They will act as the primary point of contact for the police services where they are stationed and will liaise with AMH services and the broader health system as needed (e.g., crisis intervention services, primary care). This position involves close collaboration with IMPACT Transitional Workers (ITWs) for individuals not currently connected to care, as well as other AMH staff. Together, they will support service engagement, navigation, referrals, coping strategies, supportive counselling, harm reduction, relapse prevention, crisis and safety planning, follow-up, and communication. When not actively responding to calls, the ICW will work alongside police officers to conduct proactive AMH outreach and prevention in the community. This includes promoting engagement with services and providing information and resources. The ICW will work across various environments including office settings, police service locations, community settings, and local hospitals. Additional responsibilities may include participating in situation tables and delivering presentations to the community.
This float position will be based out of Belleville Police Services but will require travel throughout Hastings and Prince Edward (HPE) counties to respond to calls as needed.
