As an Impairment Benefits Specialist, you’ll be responsible for proactively managing, assessing, and determining impairment benefit claims. You’ll navigate the requirements of the Accident Compensation Act 1985, the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013, and WorkSafe guidelines, including the Online Claims Manual. You’ll also manage disputes related to impairment benefits and ensure all actions are completed within legislative, policy, and performance timeframes. This role calls for strong attention to detail, confident decision-making, and a focus on achieving fair and timely outcomes for injured workers. This will be a full time/part time, permanent position based in our Melbourne office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week). YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Manage impairment benefit claims from start to finish, including liability assessments, ACCS attendance (when required), drafting medical panel submissions, arranging Independent Impairment Assessor reports, calculating entitlements, making determinations, reviewing responses, and processing payments. Work closely with Case Managers and key stakeholders to ensure claims are proactively managed in line with legislation, policy, and timeframes. Implement, maintain, and improve operational procedures, ensuring updates are communicated clearly to the business and aligned with continuous improvement practices. Provide timely reporting, information, and responses to internal and external queries, including those from WorkSafe and legal service providers. Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with internal teams and external partners to support the effective management of impairment benefit claims. ABOUT YOU Accreditation through WorkSafe AMA Guide training with a thorough understanding of AMA4 and its application to Victorian workers compensation claims. Proven experience in impairment benefit management, assessment, and determination, with strong knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines. Solid understanding of Victorian workers compensation disputation and litigation processes, including ACCS and medical panel procedures. Comprehensive knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013, particularly sections relating to impairment benefits. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage complex claims and meet strict legislative and policy timeframes WHAT WE OFFER We stand together as equals.
