MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manages the performance of a team of Implementation Managers and assumes responsibility for their training, career, development planning and to build and maintain adequate capacity/capability across the Implementation Delivery population.
- Actively participates and supports Solution Design and Business Development during the sales process on behalf of Project Delivery, RFI/RFQ tender stages and negotiation meetings with potential customers.
- Provides input and feedback to Solution Design in terms of the; start up and implementation budget, processes / productivities, building specification, proposed technologies and any other related topics.
- Proposes innovations and new technologies early on in the sales process, cooperates with the Innovations Centre / Accelerated Digitalization divisions on new products and ideas which could be incorporated into the business offering.
- Actively drives and supports the inclusion of the OMS standard during the sales process and assists with managing it’s implementation during the relevant project phases in order to enable a effective start up in accordance with OMS standards.
- Reviews, validates and signs off on the Concept of Operation (COO) and the IT Concept of System (IT COS) prior to the upload onto the BCA databases.
- Participates and supports the Project Manager during the Peer Review process.
- Participates during the BCA approval process together with the Business & IT Project Managers. Provides the necessary inputs and comments in order to ensure a smooth, transparent approval process.
- Is actively involved in and supports the Project Manager throughout all the respective project phases (Define, Plan, Implement, Control, Transition).
- Assumes full responsibility for the later part of the Implementation phase as well as the Transition phase with specific focus on the following aspects
- Ensures (in cooperation with the HR PD Lead) there is a accurate and achievable Recruitment and Training Plan in place based on and connected to the approved Resource Model.
- Ensures (designs, manages and leads) there is a accurate and achievable User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Plan in place.
- Ensures (designs, manages and leads) there is a accurate and achievable CRP / DILO Plan in place and is executed BEFORE the go live with detailed daily findings/corrective recommendations on all identified gaps.
- Ensures (designs, manages and leads) there is a accurate and achievable Transition (ramp up) & Cut Over Plan in place BEFORE the go live.
- Ensures (designs, manages and leads) there is a accurate and achievable Hyper care Plan in place, staffed accordingly with the appropriate support expertise and leads this through the agreed Hyper care period.
- Assists the Project Managers with the timely resolution and management of all the projects issues/risks and the mitigation/contingency plans, ensures these issues/risks are proactively communicated, escalated where required.
- Performs a on site pre Go Live BASIC’s assessment audit at least one month before the date of Go Live and submits the finding to the Project Manager, Site Manager, PD Lead, Ops Excellence Lead and the Regional Risk Lead.
- Supports the start up of the implementation for the first 2-3 months, including active participation in achievement of agreed customer KPIs, delivering site budget, financial results and other internal KPIs during the ramp up phase (e.g.. safety, operational, employee related etc.)
- Assists with preparing the annual Site Development Plan to improve the overall site maturity, performance and productivity during the end of the Hyper care period and before final hand over to the Site Manager.
- Builds strong working relationships and ensures the delivery of appropriate communication to all stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB
- A solid understanding of the Supply Chain industry and it’s Operations is required.
- Operational and Implementation experience in a Supply Chain environment (essential)
- Previous Supply Chain Site Management experience (essential)
- DePICT project management methodology (essential)
- ACT change management methodology (essential)
- O2D understanding (essential)
- DMAIC process improvement methodology (desirable)
- Experience with UAE based stakeholders would be preferable.
- Business / operational / financial acumen
- Working in virtual/ matrix environment
- Good negotiation / influencing / communication skills
- Strong leadership attributes
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Supply Chain / Operational Management / Engineering University degree (desirable)
- Professional Project Management certification e.g. IPMA Level C, PMI PMP, Prince 2 Practitioner (desirable)
- DePICT PM101 certification (essential)
Responsibilities:
Working in close cooperation with Solutions Design, Business Development, Project Sponsor, PMO, Business and IT Project Managers, the Implementation Manager will:
- Manage a team of direct reports (Implementation Managers) by providing in project support and guidance on all Implementation Management related matters, development, training, capacity, removal of obstacles and serious project challenges.
- Participate on behalf of Project Delivery during the RFQ/RFI Business Development and Solution Design phases.
- Support the overall win effort by providing value adding and expert input towards DHL’s processes, specifications, standards, technologies and requirements.
- Assists with the verification of the RFQ proposal in terms of the overall solution design, sustainability, layouts, productivities, location suitability, MHE requirements, technologies etc.
- Provides detailed input and assistance to Solution Design and Business Development in terms of creating a realistic and sensible start-up & implementation Budget.
- Validates all proposed processes, flows, productivities, system specifications, parameters, equipment internally as well as with the client where required by reviewing and signing off on the COO & IT COS.
- Assist the Project Manager with hosting and facilitating a effective Peer Review workshop and provides subsequent input towards the BCA approval process.
- Form a strong and close working relationship with the Business / IT Project Managers, PMO Managers and promotes a in project teamwork culture and environment.
- Takes full responsibility for the later part of the projects Implementation phase with special focus on the design, management and leadership of the UAT, CRP/DILO, Transition (ramp up) and Cut Over, Start up and Hyper care aspects.
- Ensures that the BASIC’S have been fully implemented before go live and conducts a on-site audit to confirm this one month prior to go live.
- Leads and oversees the project Start up and Hyper care phases, being able to report on the exact and current operational status as and when requested.
