Description The Import Traffic Specialist monitors and tracks shipments from point of origin to the distribution center. Working with steamship lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers and drayage providers insuring goods are fully cleared and released for delivery. Working with daily reporting, metrics and creating forecasting for the DC’S and Drayage providers. This position reports to the Manager Import Customs Compliance and the VP Global Logistics/Customs Compliance. Job Responsibilities: · Managing the assignment of drayage providers to in-bound containers · Coordinating timely delivery to each DC · Monitoring empty container returns ensuring minimal associated fees · Coordinate daily with Receiving warehouse, and other DC’s in issuing In Bound Tallies for receiving and filing. · Managing timely pick ups from terminals and container returns for other associated DC’s (3pl’s) · Daily communication with Customer Service on shipment status, delivery issues. · Working on various provider web sites for updates and information related to shipment status · Assist with Customs related documents and transactions – document reviews · Communicating with overseas offices regarding inbound discrepancies and resolving same · Assist in compiling claims as they occur · Engage and execute weekly meetings with DC’s for in bound freight expectations Education and Qualifications: · High school diploma or equivalent required · Min. 2-year Import Logistics exposure · Knowledge of Bill of Ladings and US Customs processes · Knowledge of HTS Classification a plus · Knowledge of Canadian exporting a plus – with Duty Drawback · Knowledge of CAFTA-DR free trade agreement a plus. Skills: · Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ever changing need · Must work well with a team and individually · Excellent communication and organizational skills are required · Must have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. · Very organized and highly motivated and results driven · ERP system knowledge, particularly Blue Cherry a plus Reporting Structure: · Reports to the Manager Import Customs Compliance and the VP Global Logistics/Customs Compliance · No Direct Reports Status: · Non - Exempt Candidate may be required to travel for training purposes to St Louis Missouri and Greensboro NC. This position may transition away from Trafficking in bound containers to a more in-depth Customs related Importing position with involvement of Customs Documentation related to goods being shipped to and from El Salvador, as well as to Canada. Requirements This is a hybrid position requiring four (4) days per week onsite. Additional in-office days may be required based on business needs.
