JOB OVERVIEW

Villeroy and Boch’s Import Specialist will manage the process of bringing goods into the country, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and trade laws for importing. This role will be responsible for documentation, communications and coordination, tracking and logistics and be responsible for problem solving that might arise in the imports process. It will also support the logistics operations in their planning / forecasting and tracking inventory activities.
The Import Specialist will partner and collaborate weekly with the Planning and Logistics Specialist, US Distribution Center and Operations teams to coordinate all imported shipments and control all in-bound deliveries to the Distribution Center.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Import Specialist to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the import process, ensuring compliance with regulations, and facilitating the smooth flow of goods into our warehouse. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree or relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 1-3 years’ experience working with U.S. Customs, logistics, supply chain or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to international business
  • Experience with order entry systems or ERP platforms such as SAP is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage data entry and documentation and analytical skills a must.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and team members.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the importation of goods, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor paperwork of all imported shipments, prepare documents for Customs entry, monitor Customs and FDA releases and monitor freight availability.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), FMC, and other regulatory requirements
  • Schedule and prioritize all in-bound deliveries to the Distribution Center, publish schedule of inbound deliveries, create advanced shipping notices, review all ship net tonnage dates in system and follow all direct deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with carriers, customs brokers, overseas agents, and internal departments. Provide freight quotes as needed and monitor special Customs programs.
  • Support billing and invoicing processes related to ocean import shipments
  • Support logistics operations in forecasting/planning, placing purchase orders and inventory control.
