QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience leading process improvement initiatives in a Lean enterprise or similar environment, preferably within IU Health.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects with measurable outcomes.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge, train others, and foster organizational culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Improvement Leader will lead and facilitate Value Stream-based, strategic process improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies, Operations Research techniques, and best practices. You will partner with local system leadership to establish policies, execute projects, and develop teams in support of financial, quality, and patient safety objectives. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and measurable improvement in patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and operational efficiency.
You’ll also serve as a knowledge resource, providing ongoing training and development to leaders and team members, and communicate results effectively to senior leadership through presentations and reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and facilitate process improvement projects utilizing Lean techniques and Operations Research methods (e.g., statistics, simulation, forecasting, optimization).
  • Partner with facility-based Process Owners and leaders to ensure projects align with organizational strategies and are completed on time.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance problem-solving and Lean capabilities across the organization.
  • Apply data analysis to identify root causes, evaluate solutions, and recommend actionable improvements.
  • Communicate project progress, outcomes, and recommendations clearly through verbal presentations and written reports to senior leaders.
  • Support cultural change by fostering an environment of inclusion, continuous improvement, and respect.
  • Proactively identify risks, resolve issues, and suggest process enhancements that support IU Health’s mission and strategic imperatives.
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring they contribute to improved patient safety, satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
