Job Title: In-Building Substitute School: High Point Academy School Year: 2026–2027 Position Type: Full-Time Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000 annually Reports To: Director of Culture and Wellness Position Overview High Point Academy is seeking a dedicated and flexible In-Building Substitute for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time role provides consistent instructional support across the school by covering classes when teachers are absent for both short-term and long-term assignments. The In-Building Substitute plays an important role in maintaining continuity for students by upholding strong classroom culture, ensuring learning continues during teacher absences, and supporting students in completing the work planned for the day. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and skilled in classroom management. Primary Responsibilities Instructional Coverage Provide classroom coverage for teachers who are absent for short-term or long-term assignments, in grades PreK-8. Implement lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher. Support students in completing assigned work and maintaining focus on learning objectives. Classroom Culture & Management Maintain high standards of classroom management and uphold school-wide expectations. Build positive relationships with students that reinforce a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment. Ensure classroom routines and procedures are followed consistently. Communication & Documentation Leave detailed reports for teachers after each assignment outlining: Student progress on assigned work Behavior notes and classroom observationsAny issues or follow-up needed Communicate with administrators and staff regarding student needs or concerns using established school-wide systems. Schoolwide Support Be available to support different grade levels and subject areas as needed. This may include classroom coverage, lunch/recess/duties coverage, or other duties as assigned. Assist with supervision duties such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, or hallway monitoring when assigned. Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure continuity of learning and consistent expectations for students. Consistently embody school-wide educator profile. Qualifications Required Must obtain and hold a valid Colorado Substitute Authorization or Colorado Substitute Teaching License by July 27, 2026. Strong classroom management skills and ability to maintain a structured learning environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to adapt quickly to different grade levels, subjects, and classroom settings. Preferred Experience working in a school or classroom setting. Experience working with elementary or middle school students. Familiarity with project-based learning, student-centered instruction, or charter school environments. Experience with lesson planning and state standards.
