Rates Range $20.50 to $22/hour (based on exp & qualifications)
As a patient, creative and experienced Special Education Tutor, you will work one-on-one with a 22-year old girl with special needs. This position is focused on building her foundational academic skills (currently at a 4-5 year old level) in reading, writing, and other basic elementary-level subjects through hands-on, engaging, and individualized instruction.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in early childhood education, special education, or ABA therapy who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a young adult’s life through structured learning and consistent support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons at an early elementary level (pre-K to grade 5), tailored to her learning style and needs.
  • Focus on reading, writing, language development, and other age-appropriate academic concepts.
  • Use visual supports, repetition, and hands-on materials to reinforce learning.
  • Track progress, adapt lessons as needed, and maintain consistency in instructional methods.
  • Incorporate life skills into academic learning when appropriate (e.g., reading grocery lists, writing her name, recognizing signs or symbols in the community).
  • Keep her engaged and motivated through positive reinforcement and creative teaching strategies.
  • Maintain a structured, calm, and supportive learning environment during sessions.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental delays, autism, or cognitive disabilities.
  • Background in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) therapy is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with IEP-style goals and differentiated instruction.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching at an individualized pace.
  • Excellent communication and observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be proactive in adjusting learning activities based on her needs, making learning fun, interactive and meaningful.
If you’re nurturing and genuinely enjoy one-on-one teaching, as well as being well organized, dependable, and love helping others grow at their own pace, we would like to meet you. Apply now to make a meaningful difference in an amazing girl’s life.
Please make sure to include your contact information with your application. You may also call 855-931-2448 to schedule an initial virtual interview.
