JOB SUMMARY

Wellcare Insurance Corporation is growing and we currently have a full-time position available for a Commercial Insurance Marketer. This position is suitable for a candidate with prior industry experience presently working in commercial lines with 1+ years insurance related experience.
The successful candidate is a self-starter who will work in collaboration with the Production team to strategize, develop and market new and renewal business for our clients. He / she should have a good understanding of the insurance marketplace and be able to build and maintain good working relationships with insurance carriers. Strong negotiating and technical skills are required to analyze information and prepare effective proposals and reports. The ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment is necessary. Some client interaction may be required from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 year experience in similar role
  • CIP/FCIP designation (or working towards) would be an asset
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is required
  • RIBO licensed or willingness to write their exam within a year of employment (preferred)
  • Exposure to Power Broker would be an asset
  • Proven knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written in English; Mandarin and Cantonese would be an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Strong attention to detail

Responsibilities
  • Market new and existing business accounts to help achieve sales and retention goals
  • Negotiate terms for new business, renewals and mid-term changes with insurance carriers
  • Gathers and organizes the information provided by Producers to facilitate the renewal and new business submissions
  • Analyzes and Reviews policy wordings to ensure the proper coverages are in place
  • Ongoing monitoring of the insurance marketplace. Maintains a current database of changing company “appetites”
  • Daily review of activities and follow ups with Insurers on outstanding items
  • Timely review of certificate requests to ensure adequate coverage and negotiate additional requirements with underwriters as needed
  • Review and compare quotations received to ensure accuracy and outline any coverage restrictions
  • Provide alternate carrier options as needed
  • Ensures that there are no gaps in coverage for our clients
  • Binding of coverage, prepares documentation, certificates of insurance, mid-term changes, etc. in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain daily contact with insurance company underwriters and the insureds
  • Build strong relationships with insurance carrier representatives and agency sales managers to achieve production goals
  • Maintain knowledge of market underwriting appetites, line of business trends, insurance company changes, rating technique and coverage development
  • Demonstrate an understanding of our company utilization strategies by appropriate risk submissions
  • Keep up to date on rate, form, and coverage changes through bulletins and circulars
  • Participate in seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development
  • Perform other duties as assigned
