Are you a seasoned paralegal or law clerk with a passion for legal research, contract management, and commercial activities? We’re looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join our client’s team as a Senior Paralegal / Law Clerk, supporting the Director of Legal (Canada) and other key stakeholders. This is a fantastic opportunity to work independently on a variety of legal matters, make impactful contributions, and be a crucial part of a team driving legal excellence across our organization.

EDUCATION:

  • Paralegal or Law Clerk diploma (required).
  • Licensed Paralegal and legal courses related to healthcare, privacy, or competition law (preferred).

SKILLS:

  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in legal research with a thorough knowledge of legal resources and databases.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and manage projects independently.
  • Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals at all levels.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 10 years working as a paralegal or law clerk in a corporate law setting.
  • Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating general business contracts.
  • Healthcare industry experience and fluency in French are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Legal Support: Assist in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing a wide range of general business contracts, including RFP bids and legal correspondence.
Contract Compliance: Address and resolve contract compliance-related inquiries and routine legal questions under the direction of the Director of Legal (Canada).
Issue Resolution: Collaborate with various parties to resolve routine legal issues related to product purchases, provincial health authorities, clinical studies, confidentiality agreements, and more.
Advisory: Provide day-to-day legal support to the Director of Legal (Canada) on a wide range of legal issues and commercial activities.
Project Participation: Engage in special projects as required, ensuring that all contracts meet our legal standards.
Independent Work: Manage a wide variety of contracts across our business units, using discretion and independent judgment.
Template Development: Develop and update contract templates to ensure consistency and legal compliance.
Research: Conduct in-depth, internet-based legal research on topics such as corporate law, intellectual property, privacy, and ethics.
