JOB SUMMARY:

Ruekert & Mielke, Inc. are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Inspector/Engineering Technician. We are willing to train the right candidate for this role!
In this position, you’ll support construction projects, including sewer, water, paving, and other civil works, ensuring compliance with plans and quality standards. Responsibilities include fieldwork for land surveying (boundary, topographic, construction staking), using survey equipment like GPS and total stations, and assisting with project design and data compilation using Civil 3D and AutoCAD. You’ll also coordinate construction layouts, manage communication with contractors and engineers, and engage with clients and the public to keep projects on track. No prior experience required—we’ll provide the training you need to succeed!

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in construction inspection, land surveying, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Civil 3D or AutoCAD is a plus, or a willingness to learn these tools.
  • Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including municipal officials, contractors, and the public.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to different project sites.
  • A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and personal vehicle insurance are required.

SKILLS:

  • Initiative, a positive attitude and attention to detail.
  • The ability to use tools to measure, estimate and verify that project specifications are followed.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks on time.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software is a bonus.
