EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualified applicants must have experience supporting bilingual proficiency, particularly in Spanish or another language prevalent in the San Diego Unified student population.
Experience teaching English Learners in a high school setting within a diverse urban district.
Experience with curriculum development and providing professional development to colleagues.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California Single Subject English Teaching Credential (English Language Development (ELD)) by the closing date of the application deadline.

The In-School Resource Teacher assigned to support Logan Memorial Educational Campus will:

  • Design and deliver designated ELD instruction to English Learners at various proficiency levels (Emerging, Expanding, Bridging) in accordance with the California English Language Development (ELD) Standards and the California English Language Arts/ELD Framework.
  • Collaborate with content area teachers (e.g., English, Math, Science, Social Studies) to integrate ELD strategies and support the linguistic needs of ELs within core academic subjects (Integrated ELD).
  • Develop and adapt rigorous, culturally relevant, and linguistically appropriate curriculum and instructional materials for English Learners.
  • Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies to promote English language acquisition across all four domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Incorporate students’ prior knowledge, cultural backgrounds, and first languages as assets in the learning process
