Description:
The main responsibilities of the Inbound Logistics Coordinator are the management of the inbound transportation functions from foreign supplier door to the US destination port or inland rail ramp in all regions of the country. This role plays a main factor in facilitating the flow of information into MISA’s systems and monitoring the company’s spending and performance metrics. This role maintains relationships with internal customer teams across MISA’s logistics network, along with internal business affiliates, distribution partners, and 3PL providers.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in Transportation Logistics/Operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or substitute experience in Transportation Logistics/Operations
  • Supply Chain certification is a plus
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Identifies business needs and drives customer requests
  • Ability to foster positive relationships and strong teamwork
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Highly motivated and action-oriented to strengthen knowledge of role/profession
  • Demonstrated expertise in load planning and shipment optimization
  • Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and effective carrier performance preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentation skill

Responsibilities
  • Communicates with other MISA’s operations groups regarding the PO’s ready date at the supplier, respective trade lane, Ocean carrier and need-by dates
  • Coordinates the Ocean freight bookings’ and sailings of purchase orders and containers
  • Assists in prioritizing urgent shipments; communicates discrepancies and lead time challenges
  • Coordinates with MISA’s Freight Forwarders to ensure all departure dates, filings of ISFs, tracking/tracing, and shipping documents are accurate and sent over to MISA’s Customs Broker of clearance
  • Coordinates with Freight Forwarders to ensure all freight charges have been cleared, and ensures there are no Freight Holds on arriving shipments
  • Monitors Delivery Order issuance, Confirmation of Pick Up, and Scheduling of Delivery appointments
  • Coordinates proof of delivery documents and returning of empty containers back to port of arrival
  • Approves any accessorial charges required for the load (Chassis, Pre-Pull, Storage, Wait Time at Port and/or Distributor)
  • Ensures all inbound logistics activities are updated and tracked in NetSuite
  • Understands, executes, and resolves any issues related to Inbound logistics activities, as well as freight claims and chargebacks between supplier and MISA’s internal customers
  • Reviews and approves invoices related to Inbound activities
  • Develops relationships with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, customs brokers, MISA’s sales support and Purchasing to communicate and update relevant information
  • Monitors service and qualifications for service providers under the positions’ purview
  • Prepares Inbound Summary reports for locations assigned
  • Assists in the requesting and comparison of various rates and fees as required
  • Assists in providing cost savings and analyzes trends
  • Other duties as assigned
