Position Overview The City of Mount Pearl is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Summer Inclusion Counselor to work one-on-one with children with exceptionalities in our summer programs. The Inclusion Counselor will play a critical role in providing support, encouragement, and inclusive experiences for children with diverse abilities, ensuring that they feel safe, valued, and engaged. This position is ideal for a student passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and fostering inclusive environments. Qualifications & Requirements * Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 by June 29, 2026. * Some post-secondary education would be considered an asset in one of the following areas: Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Nursing, Physiotherapy, ABA Therapy, or Occupational Therapy. * Previous experience working with children/youth in a recreational group setting. * Hands-on experience volunteering or working with people facing barriers to participation. * Knowledge of behavior management techniques. * Knowledge of various types of disabilities. * Experience in planning and adapting programs for participants in a group setting. * Code of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check – valid within 6 months. * Valid Class 5 driver’s license.  * Driver’s Abstract (valid within the last six (6) months). * Must be comfortable in an aquatic setting as some positions involve activities such as swimming and canoeing. * Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR level C). * Standard First Aid. * HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification. *The above statement reflects the duties necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the duties of the job.
