Lycée international de Calgary, a prestigious bilingual institution accredited by both the French and Alberta Ministries of Education, is seeking a Bilingual Inclusive Education Coordinator. QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education, School Adaptation, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience in a similar role; or a combination of relevant certification and experience.
  • Experience and/or professional qualification in teaching.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for teaching and administrative tasks.
  • Flexibility, creativity, dynamism, autonomy, initiative.
  • Organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong English and French language skills, both oral and written, are necessary.

  • First Aid training.

Responsibilities

Comprehensive Student Assessment, Individualized Support Planning, and Progress Monitoring

  • Lead and coordinate a multi-tiered system of support for identifying and addressing learning difficulties and academic challenges. This includes interpreting assessment data and collaborating with psychologists, therapists, and other specialists to gain a holistic understanding of student needs.
  • Facilitate collaborative meetings with educational teams and families to develop and refine individualized education plans (PAP/IPP). This involves translating assessment findings into actionable strategies, setting measurable goals, and ensuring alignment with both provincial and national educational standards.
  • Develop formal exam accommodation forms, ensuring they accurately reflect the student’s documented needs and adhere to all relevant regulations.
  • Implement robust systems for ongoing progress monitoring and data analysis. This includes tracking student outcomes, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and making data-driven adjustments to support plans.

Expert Instructional and Pedagogical Support and Professional Development

  • Design and deliver targeted remedial programs and instructional strategies tailored to the unique learning profiles of identified students. This includes providing direct support to students and equipping teachers with the necessary tools and resources to implement effective interventions.
  • Develop and conduct comprehensive professional development sessions for teachers and staff on inclusive teaching practices, differentiation strategies, and the effective use of assistive technologies. This ensures a consistent and cohesive approach to supporting diverse learners across the school.
  • Serve as a pedagogical consultant, providing guidance and support to teachers in adapting curriculum, modifying assignments, and creating accessible learning environments.
  • Champion the integration of digital tools and assistive technologies to enhance learning and promote student engagement. This includes researching, evaluating, and implementing innovative technologies that support diverse learning needs.

Collaborative Leadership, Communication, and Ethical Practice

  • Foster a culture of collaboration and open communication among teachers, staff, parents, and external stakeholders. This involves facilitating regular meetings, building strong relationships, and ensuring that all voices are heard and valued.
  • Actively participate in school-wide initiatives, including pedagogical councils and research projects, to advance inclusive education practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and external agencies, advocating for the needs of students with exceptionalities and ensuring access to appropriate resources and services.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues. This includes upholding professional boundaries and acting in the best interests of all students.
