SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Director of Inclusive Education, the Inclusive Education Coordinator will provide quality educational services to students with exceptionalities and their parents in a home learning setting, through a commitment to working alongside the parents and education team in planning and implementing student IEP programs.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:
An experienced inclusive education teacher, certified by the B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch or the Office of the Inspector of Independent Schools. A teacher who enjoys the opportunity to support families who have chosen to educate their children in a home learning environment. Should possess experience in inclusive education or a related field. Training or experience in and ability to modify/adapt general education curriculum, create IEP’s and compile special needs funding justification documents.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience and education related to working with individuals who have physical and learning disabilities. This could include, but is not limited to ASD, FASD, Cerebral Palsy, Chronic Health Impairments, Hearing Loss, Visual Impairments, Learning Disabilities, Behaviour or Mental Health concerns, etc. Experience and/or a desire to work with coded special education students (K-12) and their families in a home learning setting; ability to modify/adapt curriculum; ability to collaborate with family and team members to write SMART IEP’s and student learning plans.
