About the role

The Inclusive Education (Learning Adjustment) Officer will support Catholic schools across the Diocese of Sale to strengthen learning and wellbeing outcomes for students with disabilities through inclusive and evidence-based educational practices. Working closely with the Chief Learning and Teaching Officer through the Team Coordinator: Learning Adjustment, this role supports school leaders to build capability, promote inclusion, and ensure all students are supported to access and engage meaningfully in learning.

Key responsibilities

  • Support school leaders to develop inclusive school cultures and learning environments where all students can thrive.
  • Build leadership capability in identifying student need and implementing effective interventions using a Response to Intervention framework.
  • Support schools to plan and implement universal, targeted and intensive adjustments and interventions for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist schools in ensuring equitable access to curriculum, enrolment, participation, and student support services.
  • Promote student voice and agency in learning and wellbeing planning.
  • Provide expert advice and support to schools in meeting regulatory and Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) obligations, including the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of professional learning in inclusive education across the Diocese.
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Adjustment, Learning and Teaching, and Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support teams to provide coordinated support to schools.
  • Deliver intensive support to school leadership teams in response to complex student needs.
  • Provide services to schools consistent with the DOSCEL Expert Teacher Framework.

About you

  • Experience supporting inclusive education practices and learning adjustments within school settings.
  • Strong knowledge of current legislation, policies, and frameworks relating to students with disabilities, including NCCD requirements.
  • A demonstrated ability to build the capability of school leaders and teachers through coaching, mentoring, and professional learning.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience analysing student needs and supporting schools to implement effective interventions and adjustments.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and evidence-based educational practice.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
