Presently, there are many external factors affecting homelessness and rough sleeping in our city, from legislative change to the rise in the cost-of-living, fuel poverty and the national housing crisis. We are seeking dedicated and proactive Income Officers to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and recovering arrears, ensuring timely payments of the TA charge , and providing support to residents facing financial difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor Temporary Accommodation charge accounts to ensure timely payments.
- Identify and pursue arrears, negotiating repayment plans with residents.
- Provide advice and support to residents on financial matters and benefits.
- Liaise with external agencies and support services to assist residents.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on income and arrears.
- Work collaboratively alongside your peers and managers to improve collection rates.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in income collection, arrears management, or a similar role.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of housing benefits and welfare reform.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in using housing management software and Microsoft Office.
This is a challenging position that requires the successful candidate to recognise the needs of the Council to maximise income whilst maintaining its obligations in respect of vulnerable citizens.
