We are looking for an Income Recovery Officer to join our growing team. Primary responsibilities will be to deliver a high-quality rent collection, management, and arrears recovery service across Spring – proactively preventing debts from occurring and escalating and preparing the organisation for the upcoming Renters Reform Bill
You’ll follow set policies and procedures, whilst assessing our individual customers’ situations and needs to identify ways of adapting our services to achieve the best outcome. Working with both customers and staff, you will be responsible for overseeing customer rent accounts ensuring all initial actions are completed and maximising income through the effective management of current and former customers rent accounts.
This will include:
· Providing advice and information to customers and staff
· Case management
· Maintaining databases and case files
· Identifying arrears and creating action plans
· Supporting with Housing Benefit claims
· Hold debt advice workshops with customers
· Liaison with Local Authorities & DWP as necessary
· Supporting housing and support staff
Our ideal candidate will have experience of rent collection and working with people who have been at risk of homelessness or vulnerable adults and will have a good understanding of the welfare benefits system, tenancy agreements, and experience of the housing and support sectors. In addition, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritise your workload accordingly.

In particular, you will need:

  • Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing, tenancy enforcement, arrears recovery and court processes
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals who have been at risk of homelessness
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with customers with a range of different needs
  • DBS check required

Due to the nature of the role a driving licence and use of a vehicle is required to undertake site visits and attend regular meetings at the Group’s offices in Birmingham. You will also be flexible with your working hours to meet deadlines where appropriate.
