WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for an individual who can:

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with health, social care and voluntary agencies to improve services for residents and to promote the Independent Living Service.
  • Monitor, report and deal with any breaches of tenancy agreements accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Manage complaints, tenancy disputes and antisocial behaviour.
  • Assist the Senior Housing Officer with preparing papers for court, when necessary.
  • Have a proactive and compassionate approach to supporting our tenants.
  • Take responsibility for the security and safety of our schemes and properties to the agreed level. This will include undertaking checks to fire and call alarm systems or equipment, and taking responsibility for contacting the appropriate agencies to deal with any defects or maintenance.
  • Ensure tenants are kept informed with any service delivery arrangements or changes and that effective feedback is given in response to any questions.
  • Relevant experience of housing, debt and tenancy law or experience of working in a similar related field is desirable. 
  • Be responsible for ensuring an accurate recording of notes across all relevant council systems.
  • Has excellent IT skills and can use Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel effectively. 
  • Work under pressure and to tight deadlines, prioritise tasks and manage workload by effective time management. 
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, both in written and verbal form, adapting style and approach to meet the needs of a diverse community. 
  • Build effective relationships with Officers and the wider Housing team. 
  • has GCSE English and Maths Grade C or above (Grades 4 – 9) or equivalent. 

Responsibilities

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Independent Living Manager (ILM) will work as part of a team to provide support and effective housing management services across all our sheltered housing schemes and properties. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of accommodation, ensuring tenant safety and well being, supporting the tenants to live independently and manage their tenancy within a safe and secure environment. The ILM will be manage the sheltered properties including letting empty properties, conducting inspections and coordinating any repairs or maintenance that is necessary.

THIS ROLE INCLUDES BEING PART OF THE OUT OF HOURS SERVICE ON A ROTA BASIS (IN LINE WITH SERVICE REQUIREMENTS).
