Description

Together with the Risk head of Global Partnerships & Retail Services, this C15 position is responsible for providing Independent Risk review and oversight of the Retail Services and Global Partnerships. The scope covers the $50B+ Retail Services business which has 4 major franchise portfolios as well as more than 20 smaller portfolios (e.g., LL Bean, Exxon Mobil, Goodyear, Brooks Brothers). Within these portfolios are a mix of card products & features including consumer and commercial, cobrand and private label, and promotional offers, rewards. In addition, the individual will be responsible for working across regions and businesses to assess, define and provide rigor for the growing number of partnerships under different constructs and levels of risk management engagement. The role requires frequent interaction and reviews with Senior Risk Management at Global, Regional and Country levels in both risk and the business. The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring we operate in a safe and sound manner, and comply with all internal policy and regulatory requirements. The position reports to the Independent Risk Senior Risk Officer for Retail Services and Global Partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideal candidates will have 11+ years of consumer lending Risk Management experience at a senior level across multiple unsecured lending products.
  • Experience across the full credit life cycle: acquisition, portfolio, loss forecasting, loan loss reserve, collection strategy, and fraud.
  • Experience in policy development, strategy development, testing and execution.
  • Experience conducting portfolio reviews, peer reviews, portfolio audits, and regulatory interactions.
  • Experience and familiarity with machine learning and big data techniques.
  • Strategy and transaction approval authority at a Senior Credit Officer, Director, or equivalent level
  • Experience developing and delivering Risk Management presentations to executive leadership and regulators.
  • Qualified candidates must, at a minimum, hold an undergraduate degree in business, economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, operations research, engineering, or similar quantitative fields; Master’s degree a strong plus
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership with an ability to influence change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred and managerial experience

Responsibilities
  • Ensure business operates within their stated risk appetite and in compliance with internal policies, corporate risk standards and regulatory guidance
  • Review and provide comprehensive risk assessments of Portfolio Classifications, new Product launches, and Policy exceptions in accordance with their delegation authority
  • Provide day to day oversight of credit risk activities across the full customer life cycle & provide effective challenge including opining on the appropriateness of credit policies, testing activities, credit operating systems & NCL forecasting, CECL, Basel and CCAR methodologies
  • Perform portfolio deep dives, peer reviews and on the ground support for risk management and reviews
  • Engage with regulators and internal oversight teams as part of ongoing monitoring and targeted reviews
  • Review and assess portfolio transactions globally
