JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Indian Cook to join our kitchen team in Kelowna, BC. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing authentic Indian cuisine, including North and/or South Indian dishes, with a strong understanding of traditional spices, cooking techniques, and presentation.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Experience is a plus as a cook specializing in Indian cuisine.
  • Completion of secondary school is usually required.
  • Formal culinary training is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Indian spices, cooking methods and dietary considerations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes including curries, biryanis and vegetarian/non-vegetarian entrees.
  • Measure and mix ingredients, follow traditional recipes or create new ones as per the restaurant’s menu and customer preferences.
  • Manage the preparation of special dishes for events, catering, or customer orders.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Monitor food portions, quality, and presentation to ensure consistency.
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are maintained in the kitchen.
  • Train and supervise kitchen helpers and junior cooks if required.
  • Clean and organize the kitchen and work areas as per health and safety guidelines.
