Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Health, the Indigenous Health Integration Lead supports strengthening the capacity and knowledge to respond to Indigenous specific racism and the provision of culturally safe, respectful, and racism-free healthcare services. The Indigenous Health Integration Lead is an important contributor to system change by consulting and participating in knowledge translation of evidence and foundational documents into program development, strategy, practice and policy at Fraser Health. This position supports health system transformation, where evidence is converted to knowledge and knowledge informs practice, strategy and policy in a continuous cycle of improvement. The Indigenous Health Integration Lead is a highly collaborative and engaging role; you will work closely with First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and partners, internal leads and clinical teams to embed Indigenous perspectives, needs and priorities into population health, the health system and the delivery of health services within Fraser Health.
The Indigenous Health Integration Lead may support multiple health care delivery settings including Seniors, Complex Care and/or Long Term Care settings.

Responsibilities:

• Collaboratively participates in organization and portfolio document and strategy development and practice change including but not limited to policies, guidelines, reports, programs, frameworks and evaluations with a focus of ensuring Indigenous cultural safety and humility, Indigenous-specific Anti-Racism are prioritized and embedded through a lens of trauma informed care/practice.
• Provides context, consultation and knowledge translation leadership to program and clinical leaders to integrate Indigenous, cultural safety and humility and Indigenous-specific Anti-Racism into initiatives, programs and services to promote and support action for strategic, policy and practice change at all levels of the health system.
• Retrieves, assesses, and synthesizes relevant data and information. Documents findings and writes reports, summaries, and presentation materials using the appropriate software and/or electronic platforms. Leads and documents validation and review processes internally and with external participants and partners.
• Fosters partnerships and collaboration in a complex cross-cultural environment by establishing and maintaining relationships with appropriate Fraser Health leaders and teams and First Nations Health Directors, Métis Chartered Community leaders, FNHA, MNBC, Friendship Centres and other Indigenous people, communities and organizations.
• Conducts literature reviews and rapid evidence synthesis to support decision-making and conducts retrospective analysis on existing data sets using a variety of strategies, adapted to the specific data needs of each initiative.
• Provides advice and support in research and evaluation design and methodologies based on best practices in community settings that are relevant and aligned to First Nations, Métis and Inuit culture and traditions. Supports plans for monitoring program goals to establish performance measures and targets.
• Gathers information and applies critical analysis and consultation based on direction. Prepares and submits briefing notes and decision/recommendation documents as required.
• Develops and leads activities to support advancing knowledge translation and system/program transformation activities and events.
• In collaboration, explores opportunities for innovation and leveraging of funding internally and with partners to advance Indigenous Health and Wellness within specific program/service areas.
• Provides advice on and participates in the positioning of messages, communications and the dissemination of final reports or resources.
• Acts as a knowledge translator for internal and external key participants and supports readiness and capacity building. Undertakes a partnered approach for developing and implementing workplans and objectives that reflect organizational commitments such as the Fraser Salish Partnership Accord and Letter of Understanding with Métis Nation BC.
• Amplifies awareness of Indigenous Health and Wellness activities and successes at Fraser Health and provides regular input into the departmental and organization communication tools (such as Beat Articles, etc.).
• Responds to external and internal research enquiries from colleagues, government departments, academics, local councils, regional development agencies and members of the public.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Allied Health and/or other relevant clinical discipline including training and/or experience in health service delivery and research, and knowledge translation and exchange. A minimum of 5 years’ recent related clinical experience working within a relevant clinical setting in health services or delivery; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
