Key Responsibilities 1. Tax Objections & Appeals Management Review tax assessments, notices, and audit findings issued by tax authorities. Prepare well-documented objection letters, appeal files, and supporting evidence. Track objection/appeal timelines and ensure timely submission. Follow up with authorities to ensure progress and resolution of disputes. 2. Technical Analysis & Advisory Analyze tax laws, regulations, and administrative guidelines relevant to objections. Interpret VAT/excise/customs rulings to build strong technical arguments. Advise internal teams on objection risks, exposure, and possible outcomes. 3. Coordination with Authorities & Stakeholders Act as the main point of contact with tax authorities during objection and appeal processes. Provide formal responses to authority requests for clarifications or additional documentation. Coordinate with internal departments (procurement, finance, logistics, legal) for evidence gathering. 4. Documentation & Record Management Maintain a complete repository of objection cases, supporting documents, and legal references. Ensure proper filing of all communication with tax authorities. Develop standardized templates for objection submissions and documentation. 5. Risk Management & Compliance Identify the root causes of tax exposures leading to objections. Recommend process improvements to prevent recurring tax disputes. Ensure the company remains compliant with updated tax regulations. Qualifications & Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field. Preferred certifications: CPA, CA, CMA, CTA, or equivalent legal/tax credential. Experience 5–8+ years of experience in indirect tax, tax litigation, objections, or audit defense. Strong exposure to VAT frameworks in the GCC region is an advantage. Proven track record of managing tax objections with authorities. Skills & Competencies In-depth knowledge of indirect tax laws (VAT, excise, customs). Strong legal interpretation and drafting skills for objections and appeals. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Detailed-oriented with strong analytical skills. Experience using ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics). Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple cases simultaneously. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Number and success rate of objections resolved. Timeliness and quality of submissions to tax authorities. Reduction of tax penalties and assessments after objection. Compliance with regulatory deadlines and internal controls. Improvement of internal processes to avoid future disputes.
