JOB SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Indoor Arenas Supervisor, this position performs required work involving the operation and maintenance of an indoor arena facility.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Three months related arena experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain SPRA Level 1 Arena Certificate or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid and CPR certificate.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of the operation used for ice maintenance such as ice resurfacer, and ice edger.
  • Knowledge of the materials, practices and equipment used in cleaning and maintaining a public facility and work area.
  • Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and effectively with the public.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Evening and weekend work is involved.
Weekly Hours: Determined by the department
Salary Range: $19.64 to $21.66 CAD per hour (2025 rates)

Responsibilities
  • Maintains the indoor arena facility to predetermined standards for cleaning, safety and programming (e.g. cleaning dressing rooms, washing sinks and toilets), snow clearing, custodial sweeping bleacher areas making/maintaining ice conditions.
  • Operates required equipment such as ice resurfacer, ice edger, floor cleaner.
  • Responds to requests from staff, user groups and the public in the facility to ensure that program needs are being met.
  • Report any facility issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
