INDUSTRIAL / CONSTRUCTION MILLWRIGHT JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Special Projects Coordinator the Industrial / Construction Millwright is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all equipment related to the construction of a new facility located on our premises. The Millwright is required to repair and maintain equipment such as conveyor systems, and all material handling systems. They are also required to install, dismantle, repair, reassemble and move machinery within the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • High School Diploma
  • Trade Qualification (TQ) as a Millwright; Red Seal preferred.
  • Post secondary courses in mechanical drawings, mathematics, blueprint reading, welding, PLC/ electronics programming is an asset.
  • Mobile equipment certifications such as Forklift, Telehandler, Manbasket, scissor Lift, etc are an asset

Experience

  • 2-3 years’ experience in an Industrial and or Construction environment

Skills and Abilities

  • Builds effective interpersonal relationships and has an ability to work well with others on a diverse team creating a positive and productive work environment.
  • Strong problem solver able to engage analytical and mechanical skills to address challenges with effective solutions, particularly troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time and workload efficiently, to ensure projects are completed on time; well organized.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of rigging
  • Effectively communicates with team members and outside parties, good documentation skills.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in an ethical and prudent manner.
  • Heavy physical lifting (50 lbs.)

Working Conditions

  • Physical demands include sitting and standing in offices, working inside and outside in all weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust and dirt

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s License

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct all tasks in a safe manner, adhering to WorkSafe and company policies and procedures.
  2. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines.
  3. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and/ or using precision measuring/ testing instruments.
  4. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools, examining form and texture of parts.
  5. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  6. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bops, and straightedges.
  7. Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment; conserves maintenance resources by using equipment/ supplies as needed to obtain desired results.
  8. Maintains a clean workplace.
