As part of our world leading Product Development team, we are looking to onboard an Industrial Design Modelmaker to design & deliver high resolution product prototypes, in line with F&P’s visual brand language (VBL) and to support product development initiatives.
About the role
As an Industrial Design Modelmaker you will translate design intents into tangible prototypes that replicate the design intent for physical viewing and interaction, turning ideas into reality. Delivering, and leading outsourcing requirements of prototyping specifications. Managing outside vendors, project plans and timings.
This is where you come in…
Your technical skills will include having strong expertise in prototyping, modelmaking fabrication and surface finish presentation. Proficient skills with CAD for design and CAD for 2D/3D machining. Project planning and management experience with multiple concurrent activities. Problem Solving Understanding Engineering Principles and Design Processes, Technical Learning, Budget Administration.
You will work with our Product and Industrial Designers to understand design intents, project plans and contribute to managing trade-offs with prototyping, avoiding compromised outcomes, achieving timely, and quality deliverables.

You will:

  • Provide visual design inputs into various project teams to communicate design intent.
  • Contribute to the design methodology and systems for F&P that will use to capture, visualise and communicate design thinking and knowledge.
  • Modelmaking: Visualise and convey design intent specifications through sketching and modelmaking
  • Develop business and visual brand language understanding.
  • Build knowledge of various prototyping and manufacturing processes and technologies and apply these to replicate product designs.
  • Develop an understanding and appreciation for the constraints of prototyping capability and processes
  • Research up-to-date trends, technology and general information that effectively influence current and future prototyping/modelmaking plans
