Position: Industrial Division Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Direct Reports: Team Leaders (Supervisors), Shift Leads (as applicable)
Working Hours:
37.5 hours per week, distributed flexibly over 5 days. This role will require availability for site visits, travel, and participation in on-call support for urgent operational matters. Weekend and bank holiday availability may occasionally be required.

Role Overview:
The Industrial Division Manager is accountable for the performance, growth, and innovation of the Industrial Cleaning Division. This role ensures the successful delivery of all industrial cleaning projects while driving profitability, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. The postholder will balance leadership, client management, and business development responsibilities and manage a high-performing team of Team Leaders and Shift Leads across various industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:

Operational Duties:

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of industrial cleaning projects and services.
  • Ensure all work is delivered safely on time, and to the highest standard.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and FINECLEAN standards.
  • Manage resources effectively – including labour, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Monitor performance and output against site plans, schedules, and SLAs.
  • Conduct regular site audits, risk assessments, and quality inspections.
  • Liaise with internal teams (HR, Sales, H&S, Operations) for workforce planning and job execution.

Financial & Strategic Duties:

  • Drive division into profitability by achieving gross profit, productivity, and cost-efficiency targets.
  • Manage and report on divisional budgets, site profitability, and forecasting.
  • Assist with business planning and contribute to operational strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency through innovation, technology, or process improvement.

Sales & Client Management:

  • Act as primary contact for industrial clients – building trust and strong commercial relationships.
  • Manage client expectations, attend service reviews, and resolve any escalations.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to support quoting, scoping, and closing work.
  • Identify and convert new opportunities within existing contracts.

People Management:

  • Line manage a team of Team Leaders and Shift Leads across multiple contracts.
  • Lead on recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance development.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, reviews, and team engagement initiatives.
  • Set clear KPIs and objectives for team members.
  • Ensure all staff have correct PPE, equipment, and systems access.
  • Ensure staff follow all operational policies and compliance frameworks.
  • Foster a high-performing and supportive team culture that reflects company values.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Proven experience managing industrial cleaning, facilities, or project-based operations.
  • Deep understanding of health & safety, risk assessment, and compliance.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets or P&Ls.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, and adaptable to change.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Desirable:

  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent H&S qualification.
  • Experience quoting or bidding for industrial services.
  • Familiarity with field service management, scheduling, or CRM software.
