We are looking for an Industrial Emergency Response Specialist to join Kaiser Aluminum Warrick Operations in Newburgh, Indiana!
Accountable for protecting life and Company property.
The work activities of this position are mainly concerned with: Risk Management, Emergency Medical Treatment, Weather Spotter, Security with emphasis on the utilization of specialized knowledge in the areas investigation, firefighting, fire protection and Hazardous materials response. This requires an extensive knowledge of the plant layout and facilities, firefighting techniques and a general awareness of all plant processes. Act as Incident Commander on emergencies.

What you will do:

  • Responds to emergency scenes including, but is not limited to, fire, medical, sprinkler system discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, and numerous other types of incidents.
  • Arrives on scene, performs scene size up, and relays information to central dispatch center of current situation and any immediate needs.
  • Performs rescue procedures to include, but is not limited to, machinery extrication, and high angle and low angle rescue.
  • Performs fire suppression utilizing fire apparatus, hydrants, portable and wheeled fire extinguishers.
  • Responds to hazardous material emergencies and provides spill containment efforts for both small and large releases.
  • Responds to medical emergencies, initiates patient assessment and/or stabilization, prepares and transports patients.
  • Administers treatment of injuries and illnesses following established medical protocols and procedures at the emergency scene or in specialized response vehicle.
  • Performs triage duties during mass casualty incidents.
  • Provide standard security duties to include, but not limited to, unlocking doors, patrol buildings, parking lots and facility grounds.
  • Prepares logs and reports as required.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

About you:

  • N.F.P.A. Firefighter 1 and 2
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level certifications
  • National Registry or State of Indiana Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification
  • Out of state certifications must be transferable to Indiana and must be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain any applicable state, county, and local certification requirements for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic level certification.
  • With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
