Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking Industrial & Employee Relations Advisors to join our Industrial Team.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting members with workplace, industrial and employment issues. The work is varied and rewarding – from providing advice and guidance, to assisting in negotiations, to representing members in workplace meetings where required. You will also contribute to the union’s broader industrial strategy in achieving outcomes for the nursing and midwifery professions.
This process will be used to fill current vacancies and may also be used to create a pool of suitable applicants for future roles (permanent or fixed-term, full-time or part-time) over the next 12 months.
The current vacancies are permanent, with full-time hours available. Flexible part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Respond to member enquiries and provide clear, accurate advice on rights and entitlements under legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and contracts.
  • Assist with enterprise bargaining, including research, drafting and supporting negotiations.
  • Support members in workplace issues such as investigations, disputes and grievances – and provide representation in meetings where required.
  • Manage case work efficiently, balancing deadlines and priorities.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to deliver outcomes for members.

You’ll be a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Law, Human Resources, Industrial/Employment Relations, or a related discipline – or equivalent experience.
  • Strong skills in interpreting legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, workplace policies and contracts, and applying them in practice.
  • The ability to communicate complex information in a clear and supportive way.
  • Negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong attention to detail.
  • A strong commitment to union values of fairness, solidarity and collective strength which informs everything we do
