The Industrial Engineer Intern will support the Operations team at our Walton, KY manufacturing facility, which produces syrups and sauces. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations, process improvement, and plant performance. The intern will work on real projects that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support safe, high-quality production. This internship is structured to provide meaningful project work. Administrative tasks such as filing or data entry will be limited and will not exceed approximately 30–40% of the overall experience. Pay: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (flexible) Schedule: Monday – Friday (flexible) Location: Walton, KY Travel Requirements: None Work Environment Available: In-office Core Responsibilities: Analyze current operational procedures to identify bottlenecks and use lean tools, develop, and implement solutions. Collect, analyze, and visualize production data using Excel, SQL, or simulation software to enhance efficiency. Conduct on-the-floor time studies to establish standard work times and improve operator productivity. Create and update CAD drawings for facility layouts and equipment, ensuring optimal, safe, and efficient workflows. Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to support daily operations and special projects. Internship Expectations: Maintain consistent attendance and adhere to assigned work schedules. Follow all company policies, including safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct standards. Actively participate in assigned projects and seek feedback. Meet regularly with their supervisor for development check-ins. Complete all required onboarding and safety training. Internship Impact Presentation – End of Internship Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Ability to organize workflow and proceed with independent work with the tools and training provided Strong communication and teamwork skills Education and/or Experience: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field Junior, senior, or graduate standing preferred Additional Considerations: The internship will run for 12 to 16 weeks and will conclude with a final presentation to the leadership team, highlighting the intern’s projects, contributions, and key takeaways.
