The Team: The Industrial Engineer is part of the Mattel Pennsylvania Distribution Center team. Job Description The Opportunity: The primary purpose of the Industrial Engineer position is to analyze, design, and optimize systems, processes, and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity across operations. This role applies engineering principles and data-driven methodologies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in areas such as manufacturing, logistics, quality control, and resource utilization. The Industrial Engineer collaborates cross-functionally with production, supply chain, and management teams to develop and implement sustainable solutions that align with organizational goals and ensure operational excellence. The Team: Industrial Engineers are key support members of the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization responsible for optimizing processes across the organization to enhance productivity. The team's purpose is to support scalable growth, ensure operational excellence, and align engineering practices with business goals. What Your Impact Will Be: Assist in analyzing current manufacturing processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Develop and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization. Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and suggest solutions. Assist in designing and improving layout plans for production facilities to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. Support the development and implementation of quality control processes and ensure compliance with industry standards. Collect and analyze data to support process improvement initiatives, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and report on performance metrics. Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-effective solutions to operational challenges. Assist in the preparation of production schedules, staffing plans, and capacity analyses. Participate in risk assessments and safety audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and optimize supply chain and inventory management processes. Document and report progress on improvement initiatives and provide recommendations to management. Manage project schedules and coordinate outside vendor services and costs to maximize productivity and on budget and on time project completion. Supervise the installation of new automated equipment or procedures and ensure proper operation through the creation of operating procedures and guidelines for new machinery or procedures. Develop and submit MOC – Pre PSER documentation for initial project approval by DC Leadership. Develop and submit CER documentation for Mattel Leadership project approval. Establish Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance Test requirements with vendor of choice. Collaborate with EH&S, Procurement, Finance, Legal and other Mattel Departments as project requirements. Create Project file in Engineering SharePoint and keep updated as project progresses. Qualifications What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. 2-3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment Master’s degree in engineering a plus Knowledge of warehouse machinery, processes, and ergonomics Excellent project management skills Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) platforms Excellent data analytics, problem-solving, critical thinking, and influencing skills. Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Access / SQL preferred. Self-directed, self-motivated, motivated to develop and grow. Self-learning attitude to keep updated with the advancements in technology. Able to collaborate and effectively communicate verbally and in written form with internal and external customers and partners at all organizational levels. Able to effectively interpret and communicate analysis and results throughout the organization. Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills. Proven experience leveraging data to inform business decisions to redesign & improve processes and reporting. Proven experience managing and improving data quality. Confidence in engaging and managing stakeholder interactions at all levels.
