General Position Summary & Responsibilities: The Industrial Engineer reports to the Senior Supply Chain Manager. The logistics specialist manages the entire lifecycle of finished products, coordinating inventory, shipping, and receiving to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery from suppliers to customers. They optimize supply chain processes, maintain accurate inventory data, and coordinate production and shipping scheduling to ensure just-in-time delivery and reduce overhead. Toyota is known for the TPS system so knowledge of  tools like Six sigma, Kaizan and operations research should be utilized. Key tasks include optimizing shipment costs and effeciencies, coordinating transportation, and improving current Oracle shipping and information system that Cascade Steel currently uses. . Salary Range: $100,000 to $125,000 Annually Essential Functions: Environmental Health & Safety (H&S) * Ensures all CSRM and Radius Recycling Health, Safety and Environmental standards and policies are strictly adhered to.   * Assesses corrective actions and initiates viable solutions. * Encourages the reporting of any control violations. * Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors. Operational Performance & Best Practices * Assesses trucking and rail movement of scrap material, raw materials and delivered goods. * Maintains policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations, maintaining adequate internal controls. * Utilizes best practices, benchmarks, and metrics (KPIs) to improve organization. * Oversees inventory turns and cycle counts. * Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and carriers to optimize deliveries (cost and time). * Analyze logistics data to improve efficiency and reduce costs. * Resolve issues with shipments, inventory discrepancies, or delivery delays * Strong organizational abilities, effective communication for dealing with diverse stakeholders, and the ability to remain calm under pressure in fast-paced environments * Provide appropriate scenarios for methods and cost quotes to move supplier material and finished goods. * Review invoices for supplies loads to ensure accuracy and alignment with delivery records. Budgeting & Forecasting * Assists with departmental budgeting and forecasting based on analysis from historical data.   Internal Control Responsibilities: Supports the Company’s Internal Control process (SJP’s) which includes understanding, communicating and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures and controls to better relate to the business. Communicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.  Takes ownership and responsibility for ensuring all internal controls managed within the scope of this job position are being performed and signed off on a monthly basis through the internal controls checklist.   Interpersonal Contacts: Internal contacts include the local, regional and national teams.  Communication is primarily face-to-face, by email and by phone with all levels of personnel including yard operations and management.  External contacts can include suppliers, contractors, vendors or other contacts that relate to operations.   Job Conditions: Standard office environment associated with industrial settings.  This position can be exposed to all weather conditions. Physical hazards are present due to the equipment and machinery used throughout the scrap yards and the presence of scrap itself. Work pressure can be substantial during peak times, requiring considerable adaptability.  Disturbances of workflow, and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis.  Offsite work involves meeting in person with current or potential customers and/or visiting other Radius locations.  Handling multiple issues regarding scheduling, safety, and maintenance increases pressure.   Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions: Ability to: lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally; sit for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; write by hand and keyboard for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; assemble papers, hole punch, staple, file; apply sufficient force to open and close file drawers.  Communication is primarily by phone, email and in person.  Visual acuity is needed for close detail work, preparing and analyzing data figures, inspecting scrap metal, accounting, and computer use.   Qualifications: * BS degree, preferably in industrial engineering, transportation, logistics. Logistics Certifications similar to APICS, SAPICS and relevant experience in high volume road and rail experience also preferred.. * Three or more years of experience in transportation or distribution in a manufacturing/materials processing environment.   * Experience in scrap business and/or steel industry preferred but not required. * Minimum five years of experience in truck and rail dispatching preferred but not required. * Previous experience required in an industrial/manufacturing environment in an organization with multiple operating units. * Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.   Skills: * Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload. * Ability to effectively communicate through oral and written communications. * Must be able to understand, speak, and write English * Solid computer competency includes Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel, and previous experience with ERP systems. * Attention to detail and accuracy. * Excellent math, organizational, and management skills * Tact and ability to communicate on a professional level with employees, vendors, regulatory agencies, and staff of all levels to senior management, both orally and in writing. * Ability to obtain and evaluate data on total operations and how to use that information. * Work under heavy pressure; apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in controlled situations.   PLEASE NOTE: The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
