INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

POSITION

We are currently looking for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair or support of the electrical & electronic equipment used in our manufacturing facility.If you are a skilled Maintenance Electrician with strong time management and problem solving abilities please apply below!

Essential duties, responsibilities and requirements include but are not limited to the following:

  • 50% - Prevent and minimize machine breakdown by performing preventative maintenance.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on CNC machines, production conveyors, edge banding machines, panel saws, table saws, spray systems/equipment, and air tools.
  • Lubricate bearings, chains gears and other moving parts to factory specifications.
  • Change filters on clean air systems as required.
  • Clean control panels and difficult access areas of machinery.
  • Change bearings at required frequency to ensure minimum down time.
  • Ensure operator lamps, controls and indicators are operation and legible.
  • Inspect all equipment daily for usability and report any machinery defect to the plant engineer and the department supervisor.
  • Perform scheduled equipment repairs, overhauls and rebuilds.
  • Requisition maintenance items as used.
  • Ensure that all equipment is fully functioning following safety standards.
  • 30% - Respond to production equipment breakdownsin a timely fashion to allow plant productivity to continue.
  • Perform trouble shooting and repair on the following; hydraulic system, pneumatic system, mechanical components, electrical, plumbing components and safety components.
  • Replace worn out items; bearings, chains, belts, etc.
  • Removes and replace defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and fit of parts.
  • Monitor, measure, and confirm replacement parts and repairs to machinery are complete and performing to specifications.
  • Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed.
  • Trouble shooting of electrical relay logic in production machinery. Proficient in reading electrical schematics, P&IDs and blue prints desired.
  • 10% - Perform equipment moves, modifications and installation as requested by Plant Engineer.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and other items to facilitate relocation of equipment.
  • Fabricate jigs, fixtures and other production tools.
  • 10% - Other duties
  • Fulfil maintenance request initiated from health and safety committee.
  • Record in daily logbook all repairs and preventive maintenance performed.
  • Ensure the facility is overall a safe work environment.
  • Keep track of Maintenance issues and monitor machinery issues to prevent existing problems from reoccurring by logging all maintenance activity.
  • Lookup and requisition replacement parts and used maintenance items to ensure inventory is maintained at desired levels.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have 3-4 year apprenticeship program or a combination with five plus years of experience as well as Construction Millwright or Industrial Electrician, Industrial Mechanic or Interprovincial Trade Certification (Red Seal).
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and basic electrical repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings.
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication.
  • Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate is an asset.
  • Skills including trouble shooting in woodworking machinery, facility maintenance, trouble shooting in interpreting electrical and pneumatic schematics for various use machines.
  • Proficiency with basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input data and replacement parts.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevations up to 25 feet.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
    Must be available to work during the day and on Saturday’s (when required) in order to support production or to complete special projects
