We are looking for a Millwright to join the BC Works Aluminum Smelter & Services Maintenance team, where they will provide construction, installation, relocation, repair, and preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities for the optimum operating efficiency. Specific work schedule can vary based on the department, but typically can include a rotating roster with 12-hour shifts, nights, and weekends as mentioned above.
This is a great opportunity for a safety-oriented and motivated individual, with skills and expertise in the field, to have an important role in ensuring the reliability of equipment by creating and repairing key components in process equipment and buildings in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective manner.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working a 12-hour rotating day and night shift schedule, you will be:

  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards – actively engaging in safety initiatives promoting our “Zero harm” safety culture. Including lock-out/tag-out and isolation procedures

  • Using power and hand equipment, performing varied types of rigging, often at heights which require climbing and the use of safety equipment i.e., harness, lanyard, SRL’s, man-lifts, scissor-lifts
  • Keeping your work area safe, clean and well maintained. Taking timely action to correct unsafe work conditions in your work area
  • Maintaining a continuous improvement focus by developing and participating in implementation of appropriate solutions to eliminate the issues/problems identified in the work area
  • Working effectively as an individual and within a team, including communicating respectfully to all team members and stakeholders
