Description:

Volvo Group Trucks Technology (Volvo GTT) has a long history of advancing science in automotive cybersecurity, having coordinated several publicly funded research projects and actively contributed to areas such as Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment.
We strongly feel the importance of further advancing the state of the art and are continually working to identify new areas to do so. Right now, we are looking for a new colleague to pursue an Industrial PhD journey within Automotive Product Cybersecurity, to further boost our research activities and move beyond the frontiers in specific topics such as Automotive Cyber Forensics and AI powered automation of cybersecurity tasks.
As an Industrial PhD student, you will actively be contributing to the Vinnova funded research project “MAGIC - Meeting Automotive Liability Challenges through Forensics Soundness” (1), as our main researcher, and working closely together with the project partners, including other Phd. Students.
Academic studies will be carried out at Chalmers Research School over a nominal time of five years for Ph.D. studies. This involves activities such as, taking courses, attending Ph.D. School, teaching, publishing papers, under the guidance of senior professors Elad Michael Schiller and Magnus Almgren.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Strong background in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity
  • Strong skills in programing languages and system development
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, forensic methods, or analysis of security and performance properties is a plus

You will be working within Volvo GTT central cybersecurity department for product cybersecurity located at the Volvo Lundby site in Gothenburg, Sweden. The department is responsible for the cybersecurity activities used throughout Volvo GTT, such as Threat Analysis and Risk assessment, incident response, review of technical designs and creation of cybersecurity concepts. The team is helpful, multicultural, and with a broad network within automotive cybersecurity, both inside and outside of Volvo, as well as internationally.
As part of the MAGIC research project, you will have a chance to network also outside of the Volvo Group with academia, research institutes, other vehicle manufacturers, and other strong players in the cybersecurity field.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Volvo GTT in the MAGIC project and take leadership of research activities led by Volvo GTT
  • Supervise Master thesis students within the scope of the MAGIC project
  • Actively investigate and explore future opportunities for research projects
  • Present Volvo GTT research both internally and externall
