Description:
Can you imagine a world where road traffic accidents are nothing but a distant memory, and vehicles seamlessly navigate the streets with the power of cutting-edge software? How would it feel to make such a vision a reality? On top of that – how would you feel working alongside some of the brightest people in the industry and learn from the best? If it sounds appealing – apply today to join our genuine, inclusive culture and join us in uncovering new knowledge.
SO, WHO ARE YOU?
We are looking for a highly motivated, creative, and curious individual with a comprehensive data-driven and scientific mindset. As a self-driven and independent thinker, you should be able to see the big picture, identify logical patterns, and perform detailed analysis. This role demands someone who is motivated by being at the forefront of knowledge, accelerating innovation, and shaping the future. A natural collaborator, you should therefore be comfortable working both individually and collaboratively.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Vision, or a related field.
- Passion: A main focus for research aimed at enhancing road traffic safety, with the overall goal of eliminating road traffic losses.
- Communication: Excellent proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Networking: Ability to build and maintain national and international networks within your area of expertise.
- Publications: A record of contributing to respected conferences and journals such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICRA, IROS, NeurIPS, etc., will be favorably regarded.
Collaboration at Its Best
Join forces with leading academic minds with our university partners, as well as researchers from Zenseact and Volvo Cars. This collaborative effort is designed to spark innovation, foster dynamic research, and promote progress.
What to Expect
Develop state-of-the-art algorithms leading to research papers, patents, algorithms and solutions.
Test and refine your innovations with real-life automotive data from industry giants Volvo Cars and Zenseact.
Responsibilities:
YOUR MISSION AND DAY-TO-DAY TASKS
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, your mission will be to conduct research on a strategic topic, contributing to our project, “The Map to Everywhere.” You will guide our efforts in this area, aiming to publish your findings in leading journals. Your research is expected to generate innovative ideas that can be spun off into product development, with support available for patent applications.
In this role, you will be supported by a group manager, an industrial main point of contact (Zenseact-employed), and a team of colleagues within a research group, coordinated by an academic coach. This is your chance to be at the forefront of automotive technology, revolutionizing the way we create maps for autonomous driving.
The Research Project - “The Map to Everywhere”.
Our mission is to redefine how we create maps necessary for autonomous driving by utilizing the fleet data. Your potential contributions could include:
- Algorithms: Developing scalable algorithms for multi-robot SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping).
- Application and Proof-of-Concepts: Applying these algorithms to the crowd-sourcing of maps from a large number of vehicles.
- Assessment and Validation: Demonstrating the usefulness and scalability of these algorithms on large datasets.
ONE PURPOSE, ONE PRODUCT.
We’re a software company dedicated to revolutionizing car safety. By designing the complete software stack for autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems, we’re fighting to end car accidents and make roads safe for everyone. Zenseact was founded by Volvo Cars, and the teams are based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Shanghai, China. When we aim for zero accidents faster, we strive to speed up the transition to safe automation. This is essentially achieved by making cars updatable – like a computer or a phone. With regular software updates, a vehicle can be made safer long after its production. By accelerating improvement loops, shortening development cycles, and deploying high-capacity software quickly, we can make cars safer, faster.
