JOB TITLE: INDUSTRIAL PSYCHOLOGIST

Location: Western Cape - Milnerton
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: R25 000 – R35 000 per month

JOB SUMMARY

The client is seeking a qualified and HPCSA-registered Industrial Psychologist (IP) to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting psychological assessments, compiling high-quality medico-legal reports, and providing expert testimony when required. You will work closely with attorneys, earnings specialists, and other professionals to support accurate and fair outcomes in the medico-legal process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology
  • Registered with the HPCSA as an Industrial Psychologist
  • 1–3 years’ post-registration experience (open to earlier-career professionals with relevant experience)

BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of medico-legal assessments and reporting standards
  • Familiarity with expert testimony and legal procedures
  • Strong professional writing and communication skills
  • Effective file and document management skills
  • Knowledge of psychometric testing and labour market trends (advantageous)
  • Familiarity with SA labour law in psychological assessments (advantageous)
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychological and psychometric assessments of clients.
  • Formulate evidence-based conclusions regarding future career potential and work capacity.
  • Compile professional medico-legal reports aligned with ethical and legal standards.
  • Ensure reports are accurate, credible, unbiased, and delivered on time.
  • Consult with legal representatives and clients (telephonically or in person).
  • Draft joint minutes with fellow experts, including for previously issued reports.
  • Provide expert testimony in court as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal developments relevant to Industrial Psychology.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with attorneys and relevant specialists.
  • Contribute to process improvements, report design, and internal systems.
  • Guide and train internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Uphold professional and ethical standards, avoiding groupthink and ensuring independence of opinion.
