POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Spray Painter to join our railcar manufacturing team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in applying high-performance industrial coatings, including plural component epoxy systems, to railcars and components. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your painting expertise in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work closely with production teams to ensure coatings meet quality, durability, and safety standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2–4 years of experience as an industrial spray painter, preferably in heavy manufacturing (rail, automotive, aerospace, or marine).
  • Hands-on experience with plural component epoxy systems strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of spray equipment operation (airless, pneumatic, HVLP, LVLP).
  • Ability to properly mix and apply industrial paints and coatings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet quality standards.
  • Ability to read and follow technical specifications and safety procedures.
  • Physically capable of standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Willingness to wear all required PPE, including a respirator.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a 3-shift rotation, including 12-hour, 10-hour and 8-hour shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare railcar surfaces for painting through cleaning, sanding, masking, or blasting as required.
  • Mix, prepare, and apply coatings, including plural component epoxies, and other industrial finishes.
  • Operate various spray systems, such as:
    – Airless or pneumatic sprayer (air pressure)
    – HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure)

– LVLP (Low Volume Low Pressure)

  • Ensure coatings are applied to correct film thickness, coverage, and finish specifications.
  • Maintain spray equipment, hoses, and guns in proper working condition.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Work with different coating types, including:

– Single component paints (latex, water-based)
– Plural components (epoxies)

–Industrial primers, and specialty coatings.

  • Inspect finished work for quality and make corrections as required.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production and quality goals.
