JOB SUMMARY – HVAC/MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

NOVA Facility Solutions is seeking a skilled HVAC/Mechanical Technician to join our growing team supporting commercial and industrial clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC/R systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and maintenance of facility equipment. This role requires hands-on experience with electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and a variety of mechanical components, along with a commitment to safety, efficiency, and outstanding customer service.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC/R, mechanical maintenance, or industrial facility services.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and servicing HVAC components including RTUs, split systems, chillers, boilers, air handlers, and VRF systems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems (low and high voltage) and control circuits.
  • Experience with PLCs, BAS/BMS systems, and other control platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems such as pumps, valves, belts, bearings, and ductwork.
  • Welding experience (stick or MIG) is a plus.
  • OSHA safety training and ability to safely operate scissor lifts or other aerial platforms.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal), with a customer-first mindset.
  • EPA Universal Certification and/or HVAC license preferred.
  • Military background is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing environments, and commit to continuous learning.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, pumps, motors, compressors, and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC and mechanical issues in the field, utilizing tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and diagnostic software.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to resolve system malfunctions.
  • Execute field service calls for client facilities, ensuring timely, high-quality solutions.
  • Use PLCs and building automation systems (BAS) to assess system performance and troubleshoot faults.
  • Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems while ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Complete light welding or fabrication work when needed to support mechanical repairs.
  • Document all service and maintenance activities using CMMS or digital reporting tools.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to report findings, recommend solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support sales and project teams with technical insights on equipment performance, retrofit opportunities, and client needs.
