JOB SUMMARY
This position reports directly to the Director. This position will provide nurturing and developmental care primarily to infants through two year olds, but willing to assist with all ages. Emphasis will be placed on large motor development, small motor development, brain stimulation and love. Lesson plans should utilize the Pinnacle Faith Based Curriculum as provided by Excell.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications are:
O A minimum of four years experience in the childcare field or equivalent education.
O CDA certification required.
O Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
O Knowledge of theory and practice of early childhood education
O Knowledge of operation of a Infant/Toddler program
O Knowledge of children’s games and craft activities
O Knowledge of simple record keeping and office procedures
O Knowledge of standard office equipment
O Must maintain an acceptable level of personal hygiene.
O Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or stack objects not to exceed 25 lbs.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lead Nursery Zone Associate perform the following tasks:
O Assume the Lead role in the classroom which entails directing activities and other Associates in the implementation of lesson plans and school policy.
O Plan activities using a variety of materials and equipment designed to encourage development of good co-ordination, social skills, creativity, self-expression and an interest in learning
O Promote language development and self-confidence through storytelling, drama, and music
O Encourage children to question and explore the world they live in.
O Observe children to evaluate and recorded their progress, recommending appropriate programs for further development, and to detect signs of developmental disorder, ill health or emotional disturbance.
O Promote health and safety concepts with social interaction with other children
O Be creative in finding ways to teach and entertain the children.
O Remain active and alert at all times.
O Always check the playground for hazards, such as sticks, rocks, etc., everyday.
O Hug and embrace the children often.
O Maintain control and observe conduct of children at all times.
O Keep room clean and orderly at all times
O Supervise the children at play, ensuring their safety at all times.
O Attend to sick children and those in need of first aid.
O Comfort children who are hurt or distressed.
O Discuss with parents aspects of the child’s development.
O Discuss with parents the aims of the program.
O Participate in community activities and parent/staff meetings
O Attend yearly Bright from The Start and Excell training as required.
O Work cohesively with Nursery Zone Assistant.
O Other duties as assigned
