The Role The preschool seeks a caring, dedicated Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher to support children during this extraordinary stage of growth and discovery. This position plays an essential role in creating a nurturing, responsive environment where the youngest learners feel safe, valued, and inspired to explore. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team member who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to fostering each child’s social, emotional, and physical development. Responsibilities Provide nurturing care to support the social, emotional, and physical needs of each child. Maintain a consistent schedule, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and lesson plans with the teaching team Communicate effectively and professionally with families, including updates about children’s progress and needs (via phone calls, newsletters, and conferences) Participate in weekly team meetings and professional development opportunities to foster personal and team growth Ensure children’s safety and well-being at all times Core Competencies Build Positive Relationships Ensuring Children’s Safety & Well-Being Creating a Predictable, Consistent, and Harmonious Classroom Identifying Children’s Interests and Needs Culturally Proficient & Equity Literate Proficiency in Google Suite & Mac/Apple OS Requirements Experience working with young children and an understanding of their social, emotional, and creative needs A degree or certification in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (preferred but not required) A minimum of two years’ experience in a childcare or preschool setting (preferred but not required) Work Environment Indoor/outdoor classroom environment Outdoor natural learning spaces Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and engage in activities at the child’s level Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office and classroom equipment Sitting or standing for extended periods of time Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist children Seeing to read a variety of materials and monitor student activities Hearing and speaking to exchange information Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
