QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BC ECE license or certification (required)
  • A valid Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR/AED Level B Certificate
  • A clear Criminal Record Check
  • Canadian Citizenship and/or legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Strong communication skills; spoken and written in English
  • Commitment to learn, apply, champion, and embody Nido de Montessori’s Guiding Principles and Learning Foundations
  • A growth mindset, recognizing opportunities for learning and growth daily
  • Experience and knowledge in Inquiry-based learning and/or Montessori is an asset

Responsibilities

As an Early Child Educator, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Nido’ culture, and what sets us apart from other early learning centers.
  • Embody Nido’s values and implement our Guiding principles and Learning Foundations in curriculum planning.
  • Establish loving, positive, safe, and secure relationships with the children.
  • Attend to the individual child’s physical, social, and emotional needs.
  • Establish and engage in collaborative partnership with fellow educators, colleagues, leaders, families, and the greater community.
  • Maintain and upkeep a functional, clean, and safe class environment.
  • Provide an environment that encourages active exploration, inspires curiosity, and enhances children’s understanding of the world around them.
  • Provide age appropriate activities to support the development of social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical growth.
  • Weave literacy, numeracy and math concepts into daily interactions
  • Support children’s cognitive development by providing daily opportunities to support their learning, thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Keep program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to leaders.
  • Document children’s learning progress and communicate with families/caregivers and colleagues regarding children’s development and progress.
  • Attend meetings and professional development opportunities where necessary.
