Description Join the team at Bethany Village as our Infection Control/Education Nurse! This important role helps keep our residents and staff safe while leading employee education, infection prevention practices, new employee orientation, and ongoing staff training. We are looking for someone organized, supportive, and passionate about teaching and quality care in a long-term care setting. Position Overview: As the Infection Control, and Education Nurse, this position holds a multifaceted role that is instrumental in maintaining the health and safety of our residents and staff. Responsible for educating staff on Bethany Manor Policies, Infection control, managing Relias programs and New Employee Orientation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Infection Control Ensure that care procedures are carried out in compliance with all state, federal and OSHA regulations. Ensure initiation and update of physician plan of treatment according to nursing policy and applicable law and regulation; monitors the residents care to ensure quality and appropriateness of services and perform random audits as needed. Ensure all reporting requirements are met and that all required paperwork is completed and accurate, i.e. infection control, accident/incident reports etc. Accountable for activities that support the antibiotic stewardship mission and infection prevention control strategies Utilize antibiotic-use and other data to ensure that antibiotic stewardship policy procedures and best practices are followed and refined as needed. Compile and share report of infections, antibiotic use, process measures and outcomes monthly. Assist with the identification of any necessary procedure changes based on data reports. Completes N95 fit testing for staff as needed. Education Educate all staff on Infection Control Procedures and institute best practice techniques. Provides information, corrective actions Educate all staff on State, Federal, DOH, and OSHA regulations and requirement. Provide all necessary proficiency (written & practicum) requirements for staff; ie. med testing, lab (CLIA) waiver requirements, CNA proficiencies, etc. Ensures that employee immunizations (including PPD's) are provided to staff prior to employment, and on a timely basis thereafter. New Employee Orientation Provide necessary upgrading of skills and knowledge to staff. Provide CPR training and testing. Must maintain all updated reporting requirements for county, state, and federal agencies. Assists with Code Blue Drills and coordinates a yearly schedule for code blue drills Coordinates monthly education calendar for both Relias and in person monthly education. Requirements Education Required: RN License Bachelor’s degree preferred CPR Certified Active Infection Prevention Certification or be obtained within 6 months of hire. Must complete Infection Preventions re-certification every three years
