JOB SUMMARY:

The Infection Control Manager reports to the Director of Infection Control and is responsible to investigate suspect infections and assist in formulating institutional response plans. In addition, this position includes identifying, tracking and containing infections, data reporting, analyzing trends, assists in developing strategic programs and initiatives to reduce infection spreading, and educating hospital staff on all infection prevention/control and infectious disease management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSN or Bachelor’s degree in a related field Masters preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in Infection Control/Prevention required
  • Valid NYS Registered Nurse License required
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Meditech a plus
Responsibilities
  • Creates and conducts programs for all hospital departments as needed, and serves as a resource person regarding information as it pertains to our hospital infection policies
  • Assesses the patient needs and provides clinical intervention and consultation recognizing the clinical, infection control, age and psychosocial needs of the patient
  • Coordinates Infection Control activities with the Director and Chief of Infectious Diseases
  • Collects data and generates reports and submissions for government, regulatory agencies and required public reporting
  • Collaborates with the Performance Improvement and Risk Management Departments to develop and monitor studies related to unit based infection control
