1.    Education: Graduate of a Clinical Laboratory Technician Program with an Associates of Science degree 2.    Training and Experience:  Three years’ experience in clinical practice.  Experience in a variety of clinical specialties desired. 3.    Job Knowledge: Understanding of the principles of asepsis, epidemiology, microbiology, the development of policy and procedures, patient care practices, group dynamics, and knowledge of adult education principles necessary.  Basic understanding of regulatory processes and guidelines of ASHD, CDC, OSHA and other applicable regulatory agencies desirable.  4.    Safety Sensitive:   YES In the interest of protecting the health and safety of all patients, associates, and guests, Unity Health has classified some positions as “safety sensitive.”  A “safety sensitive” position is any job position in which impaired performance could result in harm to the health and/or safety of self or others. Any associate that is actively engaged in the use of medical marijuana, even if in possession of a valid medical marijuana card, will be excluded from employment in a “safety sensitive” position.  DESCRIPTION: Responsible for coordinating and compliance regarding infection control practices and surveillance activities and infection control policy and procedures. Works closely with regulatory and accrediting agencies, as well as Administration, hospital leadership, and front-line staff to ensure regulatory compliance. Follows evidence-based guidelines aimed at preventing the spread of harmful infections in the healthcare setting, protecting both patients and associates. Position does not provide direct patient care.
