Description Location: Highland Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday + on-call every 3rd weekend We are seeking a detail-oriented Infection Prevention Nurse (LPN or RN) to oversee and maintain our Infection Prevention and Control Program in our 44-bed skilled nursing facility. This role may also support staff development, clinical education, and employee health functions as assigned. Responsibilities: Lead and manage the facility Infection Control Program Conduct infection surveillance, tracking, trending, and outbreak management Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations Provide infection control education and monitor staff adherence to best practices Chair Infection Control Committee and report data to QAPI Support staff education, competency validation, and clinical orientation (as assigned) Assist with employee health requirements including TB screening, flu vaccination tracking, and illness monitoring Qualifications: Current LPN or RN license in good standing Skilled nursing or long-term care experience preferred Infection prevention experience preferred (certification a plus) Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills All employees must meet state background check requirements prior to resident contact. Requirements Education Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing; BSN degree preferred. Licenses/Certification License as a RN in state employed. Current CPR certification. Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred. Certified Infection Control Nurse preferred. Current with state Continuing Education (CE) requirements. Experience Three (3) years of nursing experience, of which one (1) year was in a long-term care environment. One (1) year experience as an instructor preferred. One (1) year acute care experience preferred.
Responsibilities
The Infection Prevention Nurse will lead and manage the facility's Infection Control Program, which includes conducting surveillance, tracking data, managing outbreaks, and ensuring compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations. This role also involves chairing the Infection Control Committee and supporting staff development and employee health functions.
