Seeks Medical Doctor for International Humanitarian Missions To join our team in International Projects (Minimum availability of 6 months) *** Please upload your CV and motivation letter in English *** THIS JOB PROFILE IS IN ENGLISH SINCE THIS IS THE REQUIRED LANGUAGE FOR THE JOB OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions. RESPONSIBILITIES Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols. Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood. Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits , consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution. Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards. Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material. Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care. Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected. Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to MSF HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary. Clinically evaluate newly admitted patients and lead processes for diagnosis and management Manage advanced HIV and opportunistic infections with a particular focus on disseminated tuberculosis and other common OIs, , support decisions on ART switches based on Indian/WHO Guidelines. Manage of severe acute malnutrition, comorbidities and common adverse events, including drug induced liver injury, seizures, and others. Monitor prescription and use of antibiotics, and manage use of reserve or rare antibiotics Advise and contribute to standard operating procedures related to infectious disease management and clinical care in general Build capacity of ward team, through bedside training to MSF Medical Doctors and Nurses, in the management of infectious diseases in advanced HIV PROFILE Education and formation Essential: General Physician Degree. Essential: Diploma or equivalent experience in Infectious diseases Desirable diploma in tropical medicine Desirable Internal Medicine Specialization Experience Essential: minimum 2 years practicing as General Physician for a hospital developing multi-purpose activities Essential: 2 years of treating patients with infectious disease in an inpatient facility including HIV, TB and/or DRTB Essential: Experience in tropical medicine, post-registration experience in public health, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, “A”, infectious diseases, HIV / AIDS / STD, TB, general medicine and / or minor surgery. Desirable: Experience in management of advanced HIV, DRTB, Visceral Leishmaniasis, intensive care, conduct of tissue aspirates techniques for diagnosis, and interpretation of radiography (X-ray, CT scan and MRI) Desirable work experience with MSF and other NGOs in developing countries Languages Essential: English (B2 or higher level) Essential: Spanish (C1 or higher level) Knowledge of French will be an asset Knowledge Essential computer literacy (word, excel, internet) Competencies Stress Management (L3) Commitment to MSF Principles (L2) People Management and Development (L2) Behavioral Flexibility (L2) Results and Quality Orientation (L2) Teamwork and Cooperation (L2) POSITION CONDITIONS Work Venue: Where the needs of the project require it Profits: Monthly remuneration: in the first 12 months, the bonus approximate gross monthly is USD $1,500. From the second year remuneration increases based on experience (previous and acquired) and the level of responsibility in the field. Private insurance coverage that includes medical coverage and hospital, temporary disability and life insurance. The organization also has an arranged medical evacuation if necessary. The expenses of stay in the land are covered: housing, basic services, cleaning and washing. Other expenses such as transportation, visas, transfer to the country of destination and Displacements in the field will also be covered by MSF. Per diem or monthly per diem: mainly to cover meals and small personal expenses.
