SUMMARY & OBJECTIVE

The Informatics Nurse serves as a clinical technology liaison between nursing, rehabilitation staff, IT, and administrative leadership, including process improvement professionals to facilitate the adoption of best practices in clinical information systems. This role focuses on optimizing electronic health record (EHR) systems, supporting clinical documentation, improving workflow efficiency, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Informatics Nurse provides troubleshooting and support for staff using clinical software, ensuring that patient care and outcomes are enhanced through proper use of technology.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear and Active Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (if accepted or required by site) license to practice in the state of Florida
  • BSN preferred
  • Certification in Informatics Nursing Certification (NI-BC) preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a Health Care Facility setting
  • Familiarity with project management methodology
  • Knowledge of operating systems and clinical applications
  • Knowledge with various EMR software, Netsmart EMR system preferred if applicable
  • Experience deploying clinical information systems
  • Must have experience with electronic clinical documentation systems.
  • Must use good judgment in executing job as employee deals with confidential information.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of computer office/clinical software
  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide clinical oversight of existing clinical systems with an eye towards improving processes and standardization. Analyze clinical workflows and propose technology-based solutions to improve documentation, care planning, and regulatory compliance. Provides recommendations accordingly.
  • Review clinical protocols and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with the Chief Medical Officer, Risk Manager, and others on matters that require a change to existing protocols/procedures.
  • Manage clinical issues (e.g. logging and resolution) in coordination with Helpdesk Administrator.
  • Plan and participate in the deployment of new systems or the implementation of changes onto existing systems –conduct technical change management.
  • Actively participate in the creation of test plans (creating, advising or assisting) as required.
  • Coach staff on computer literacy, best practices, and regulatory compliance as it relates to electronic documentation.
  • Provide training materials to support ongoing education and training of staff on EMR best practices and new system features.
  • Create reporting to facilitate facility staff’s monitoring of data accuracy, completeness, timeliness of clinical documentation and survey readiness.
  • Act as a liaison during system upgrades or transitions, including UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
  • Identify facility resources that can become Super Users and cultivate them.
  • Confer with a wide variety of specialists (directors of nurses, physicians, process improvement professionals, project managers, information technology engineers, pharmacists, third-party contractors, etcetera) in order to resolve clinical information issues that are system or workflow related.
  • Assist project managers or assume their duties, as determined by the VP of Operational Excellence, on designated assignments.
  • Create and maintain training documents and competency testing as needed.

    OTHER DUTIES

    • Travel across Dade and Broward counties to ensure optimal service at CHS campuses. Work during weekends and/or at odd hours of day or night in order to minimize system disruptions.
